Pinball games on the Pocket PC have to fulfill a couple of requirements before I’m happy with them. Firstly, is the pinball table varied enough to keep me interested, yet small enough that I don’t lose the ball in some extraneous mini-game? Secondly, does the game make me never want to put it down? Pinballz passes on both counts.
Pinballz includes all the features you’d expect from a game in this category, and avoids making the mistake of being too complicated. Its table has just the right number of targets, bumpers and lights for the player to become truly engrossed in the action. The game’s sound effects aren’t amazing but they are a faithful rendition of old pinball tables’ sounds and it probably wouldn’t make much difference if they were changed. Pinballz uses your Pocket PC’s hard buttons to control the flippers, and the joystick controls nudge and tilt. Using the buttons as controls was very easy.
With its well designed balance between table events and small screen playability, Pinballz provides a faithful reproduction of the pinball experience on your Pocket PC.
Table not too complicated
Very basic sound effects
Pinpallz is an original Pinball game which is designed to occupy every moment of your free time, aiming for a higher score and beating your previous records!
There are three sets of drop targets (red, blue, green) located around the table. Each has a arrowhead light which will indicate which set of drop targets to hit to advance the score multiplier.
Knocking down the drop targets will light the multiplier light display in the center of the table. The left and right drop targets will light the left and right lights (blue and green). Remember, you must hit the targets with the arrowhead lights lit to advance the multiplier.
After knocking down the drop targets hit the round bull's-eye targets to reset them. The left target resets the red drops, the rear target resets the green, and the right target resets the blue. The right target also features a strongman bell, the harder it is hit, the more points it gives - ring the bell to bring out the inchworm!
Hint: Looking for a huge score? Go for the drop targets and increase the score multiplier. Meanwhile, raise the bumper forest by raising the two globes, then focus on lighting all the ball channel lights to light the extra ball light and increase the bumper forest value to 5,000 per hit. Then focus on getting the worm and locking the bumper forest in place.
A novel and entertaining edition of pinball which promises hours of fun on your Pocket PC.
